The first visit of Ivan Franko to Kyiv in 1885 was short. The government knew him as a frequently arrested activist and the publisher of political newspapers. But Kyiv citizens voraciously read Franko’s works. He was a welcomed guest in the circles of progressive intellectuals. And there, in Kyiv, Franko met the love of his life.
