When Maksym Rylskyi came to move into the apartment of his friend Ivan Ochkurenko in Kyiv, the master of the house was away. Rylskyi was met by his wife, Kateryna. It was love at first sight that lasted the whole life. Kateryna could not stay with her husband, and left with Maksym. Together, they had been through the times of glory, his arrest, harassment, joy and misfortune.
