Ivan Tobilevych – Karpenko-Karyi – met his future wife Nadiia Tarkovska due to the theater. He offered her the part of Halia in the play “Nazar Stodolia” by Taras Shevchenko , performed by the amateur theater. And she agreed. Find out about how similar was the fate of Shevchenko’s characters to the fate of Ivan and Nadiika, how they married against the will of her parents in the first part of the film “Ivan Karpenko-Karyi.
