From March of 1917, Mykhailo Hrushevskyi headed the Central Council of Ukraine. There were a lot of victories and losses on that path. With the help of Hrushevskyi, Ukraine for the first time declared itself the independent Ukrainian People’s Republic in its Fourth Universal. But that was followed by the coup and the defeat.
