The collections of his short stories made the young writer famous. But in his personal life, there were the sad pages. His mother died, and his father married a young woman. Vasyl abandoned his\u00a0studies\u00a0at the university. The woman he loved, Yevheniia Kalytovska,\u00a0 did not answer to his feelings. But Yevheniia\u2019s sister, Olha Hamorak, was almost hopelessly in love with Vasyl for a long time.
